Symptoms 

Used for the prevention of bronchial asthma, allergic disorders (rhinitis, conjunctivitis), neurofibroma consequences (itching, pain, soreness), and allergy symptoms (hayfever, urticaria).


Pharmacology

Acts as a preventive treatment for asthma with anti-allergic and antihistamine characteristics. Has strong anti-anaphylactic effects and an inhibitory impact on histamine responses.


Dosage 

The recommended dosage for Ketotifen Fumarate is 1 mg twice daily for adults, with a potential increase to 2 mg in severe cases, 1 mg twice daily for children above 3 years, and the same dosage as adults for the elderly or as advised by the physician.


Interaction

May enhance sedatives, hypnotics, antihistamines, and alcohol. Possible reversible decrease in platelet counts with oral antidiabetic medications.


Opposite (Contraindications)

It should be avoided in combination with oral anti-diabetic medications. Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.


Side Effects

Initial drowsiness, dry mouth, and minor dizziness may occur, usually resolving within a few days.


Pregnancy And Lactation

Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding despite no evidence of teratogenicity.


Alertness

Patients may experience impaired reactions on the first day of Ketotifen therapy. Caution against driving or operating machinery until the impact is understood. Patients 

should abstain from alcoholic beverages.
