Symptoms
Angilock 50 is suitable for the treatment of hypertension. It can be used alone or in combination with other antihypertensive medications (such as thiazide diuretics).
Pharmacology
Angilock 50 is the first orally active non-peptide angiotensin II receptor blocker. Binds to AT1 receptors found in many tissues (such as vascular smooth muscle, adrenal glands, kidneys, and heart) and reduces several important biological effects, including vasoconstriction and the release of aldosterone that causes high blood pressure.
Dosage
For most patients, the usual starting and maintenance dose is 50 mg once a day. If the antihypertensive effect of 50 mg once a day is insufficient, it is recommended to use 25 mg twice a day before increasing the dose. For patients with insufficient intravascular volume (eg, patients receiving high-dose diuretics), a starting dose of 25 mg once daily should be considered. Losartan potassium can be given once or twice a day. The total daily dose ranges from 25 mg to 100 mg.
Interaction
Rifampin and fluconazole can reduce the level of active metabolites of losartan potassium. The simultaneous use of losartan potassium and hydrochlorothiazide may potentiate the antihypertensive effect. Concomitant use of potassium-sparing diuretics (such as spironolactone, triamterene, amiloride), potassium supplements, or potassium-containing salt substitutes can lead to elevated serum potassium levels. The antihypertensive effect of losartan may be weakened by the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug indomethacin. Simultaneous use of ACE inhibitors, angiotensin receptor antagonists, anti-inflammatory drugs, and thiazide diuretics may increase the risk of kidney damage.
Side Effects
The side effects of using Angilock 50 are mild and short-lived. The most common side effects are dizziness, diarrhea, nasal congestion, cough, and upper respiratory infection. Other side effects include fatigue, edema, abdominal pain, chest pain, nausea, headache, and pharyngitis.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy category D. Taking Angilock 50 in the second or third trimester of pregnancy will increase the risk to the fetus. It is not clear whether losartan potassium will be excreted from human milk because many drugs are excreted from human milk and because it may have adverse effects on infants, a decision must be made to discontinue breastfeeding or to stop taking the drug. medicine, taking into account that the drug is effective The importance of mothers.
Warnings
The use of Angilock 50 in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy will reduce fetal kidney function and increase fetal and neonatal morbidity and mortality. For patients with insufficient intravascular volume (for example, patients treated with high-dose diuretics), symptomatic hypotension may occur. The plasma concentration of losartan potassium in patients with liver cirrhosis is significantly increased. Changes in renal function have been reported in patients with renal insufficiency, including renal insufficiency.
